The project implementation involves various actors at Jean Moulin University Lyon 3 and partner universities. Structured with a small decision-making team and a broader administrative and pedagogical team, the EMJM Janus is designed for mobility across five countries, offering diverse perspectives on security and defense. Positioned strategically in Europe, the Master’s program emphasizes intercultural management within security systems and companies.

The JANUS Joint Master’s program aligns with Erasmus+ Key Action No. 1, enhancing organizational capacity through internationalization strategies. The cooperation strategy emphasizes reciprocal dialogue across administrative, pedagogical, and political levels among all consortium members.
The Janus Master program responds adeptly to the escalating demands for security and defense in our interconnected world. Over the course of two years, it provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education covering essential areas such as:
- Fundamentals of security and defense
- Security and defense challenges in Europe’s neighborhood
- Security management techniques
- Legal and political systems in the field of security and defense
This carefully curated program thus ensures that professionals emerge well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the globalized landscape in the realm of security and defense.

The university is composed of 13 faculties and schools and offers a comprehensive spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across diverse fields, empowering students to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to society.
UBB’s commitment to global engagement extends far beyond its borders. As a member of the Magna Charta Universitatum, an esteemed international association of over 800 universities, UBB actively fosters international partnerships, facilitating exchange and dual degree programs that enrich students’ academic experiences and broaden their global perspectives.
