The implementation of the project relies on a wide range of actors within the consortium of partner universities, bringing together both a compact decision‑making team and a larger administrative and academic coordination team. Structured to facilitate mobility across five countries, the EMJM JANUS Master offers students multiple perspectives on security and defence. Strategically anchored in Europe, the programme builds on the geographical and disciplinary complementarity of its partners to deliver a uniquely demanding and high‑quality pedagogical experience.

The JANUS Joint Master’s program aligns with Erasmus+ Key Action No. 1, enhancing organizational capacity through internationalization strategies. The cooperation strategy emphasizes reciprocal dialogue across administrative, pedagogical, and political levels among all consortium members.

The Janus Master program responds adeptly to the escalating demands for security and defense in our interconnected world. Over the course of two years, it provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education covering essential areas such as:

  • Fundamentals of security and defense
  • Security and defense challenges in Europe’s neighborhood
  • Security management techniques
  • Legal and political systems in the field of security and defense

This carefully curated program thus ensures that professionals emerge well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the globalized landscape in the realm of security and defense.

Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, France

The University Jean Moulin Lyon 3 is a public university located in Lyon, France. It stands as a beacon of academic excellence, welcoming over 30,000 students from across the globe to its vibrant campus.

The university’s commitment to academic rigor is firmly established, with its four faculties consistently ranking among the top institutions in France. Students are immersed in a stimulating academic environment, guided by world-renowned faculty who are passionate about their respective fields.

Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon

Founded in 1875 by the Society of Jesus, Saint Joseph University (USJ) is a private Lebanese university of public utility. It comprises 13 faculties (religious studies, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, engineering and architecture, law and political science, economics, business and management, arts and humanities, science, education, and languages and translation), 15 institutes, and 9 specialized schools attached to the various faculties.

USJ has 6 campuses in Beirut and 3 campuses in other regions (North Lebanon, South Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley). It also has a campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, administrative offices in France and the United States, and is a co-founder of USJ-Côte d’Ivoire (USJ-CI).

University of Essex, United Kingdom

The University of Essex is a public research institution located in Essex, England. Founded in 1965 through a royal charter, it is one of the original “plate glass” universities. The university operates three campuses within the county: in Southend-on-Sea, Loughton, and its main campus at Wivenhoe Park in Colchester.

Essex is home to a diverse student body and has established partnerships with over 100 higher education institutions globally. It was named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2018.
